Equipment

  • 1 Large Pot
  • 1 Fine Mesh Strainer or Cheesecloth
  • 1 Measuring Cups and Spoons
  • 1 Stirring Utensils & Pitcher or container
  • 2 Glasses

Ingredients
  

  • 4 Cup Water
  • 1 Cup Birch bark
  • 1 Cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 TBSP Wintergreen extract
  • 1/4 TBSP Vanilla extract
  • 1/4 TBSP Citric acid
  • Carbonated water

Instructions
 

  • Boil 4 cups of water, simmer birch bark for 15 mins for infusion.
  • Strain cooled infusion to remove bark.
  • Heat strained infusion, dissolve sugar for birch bark syrup.
  • Let syrup cool, add wintergreen & vanilla extracts, optional citric acid.
  • Mix birch bark syrup with carbonated water (adjust ratio).
  • Chill in fridge or serve over ice, garnish if desired. Enjoy your birch beer!
